Born Nov. 7, 1913, in the town of Croghan, a daughter of Peter C. and Katie Steria Martin, she was educated at Belfort School.
She married Elmer Moser on Aug. 14, 1935, at Croghan Conservative Mennonite Church with Rev. Christian M. Nafziger officiating. He died Nov. 2, 1997. They had 64 years together. They owned and operated a dairy farm on State Route 812 for 37 years.
In 1975, they moved to their new home and in 1979, sold the farm to their son, Nevin. She was a member of the Croghan Mennonite Church, a Sunday School teacher and Vacation Bible School teacher for many years. She was a former member of the Beaver River Senior Citizen's group and the Lewis County Hospital Auxiliary in the earlier years of her life.
She worked many years cleaning for other folks. She shared her home by taking care of more than 30 foster children from babies to teenagers. She also boarded several adults. She enjoyed working in her large farm garden and after moving, her smaller one. She was an avid knitter, making several items for her family. She also enjoyed crocheting and puzzles and stayed in her home for twelve years after her husband died.
Surviving are four children and their spouses, Curtis (Arthenia) and Nevin (Ginny), all of Lowville, Clayton (Arlene), Hollsopple, Pa., and Sharon (Carl) Garber, Mahwah, N.J.; 13 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren; several family members, cousins, nieces, nephews and many friends.
Four sisters Clara Martin, Malinda (Mrs. Samuel Gingerich) and Rose (Mrs. Daniel Widrick), an infant sister, Grace, and a brother, Alvin Martin, all died before her.
Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Saturday, June 6, at the Croghan Mennonite Church with Rev. John Martin, pastor, officiating. Burial will follow in the Croghan Mennonite Church Cemetery.
