Born near Waldo, Ohio, to William A. & Gretha W. (Schofield) Herbert, the second of their six children.

Mable grew up in Morrow and Marion Counties and in Columbus, Ohio. She graduated from Worthington High School, where she played on the basketball team, and then went to Columbus Business College, where she was a member of Tau Kappa Phi Business Women's Sorority. She was an office manager of a downtown marketing firm until her marriage to Bruce R Davisson on June 29, 1935, at St. John's Church, Columbus, Ohio.

The family moved to Upper Sandusky, Ohio, where Bruce managed Townsley Hatchery. In 1940 Bruce took a position with the Ohio Poultry Association, and they moved to Columbus, living at Arden Road. A year or two later they purchased a home in Clintonville, at 292 Northridge Avenue, Columbus. In 1950, looking for room for their four children to have fresh air, they moved to a farm at 1396 Home Road, Delaware, in Liberty township, where they spent the rest of their lives.

Mabel was a deacon of Liberty Presbyterian Church, member of the Farm Bureau, the Daughters of the American Revolution, Order of the Eastern Star, and co-leader of the Liberty Belles 4-H Club. She lost her husband of 46 years in 1982, and lived her remaining twenty years at the farm home she loved. She was a patient and kind counselor, family historian, a great gardener and an amazing cook, her pies and cookies being a legend among family, friends, and the men who came to help mow in later years.

She was preceded in death by parents, husband Bruce, brother Vernon and Woodrow and sister Ilo. She was survived by four children, ten grandchildren, a sister, two sisters-in-law, and many other relatives and friends, including life-long friend Kathryn Prochaska. She was a long-time resident of Delaware County and member and past Deacon of Liberty Presbyterian Church, the Delaware Chapter of the D.A.R., Delaware County Farm Bureau, the Order of the Eastern Starand co-leader of the Liberty Belles Girls 4-H Club.
