Martha Jane Cates, 93, of the American Beauty Nursing Home in West Frankfort, died Saturday, Dec. 9, 1978, at the nursing home.
Mrs. Cates was born June 8, 1885, in Franklin County, to G. W. and Fanny LeMasters Kirk. She was married to George Bolen, who preceded her in death. She also was married to James Cates, who died in 1963. One son also preceded her in death at Pearl Harbor in 1941.
Survivors include three daughters, Ruby Renn and Mable Cates of West Frankfort, and Virginia Baphell of Detroit, Mich.; one son, Jimmie Bolen of New Chicago, Ind.; seven grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren and eight great-great-grandchildren; and one brother, Will Kirk of West Frankfort.
Funeral services were held at the Stone Funeral Home in West Frankfort. Burial in the Denning Cemetery.
