ALICE D MARTIN
CUMBERLAND - Alice D. Martin, 84, of Cumberland, died Thursday, May 27, 1999, at the Sacred Heart Hospital Hospice Unit.
Born Jan. 10, 1915, in Cumberland, she was the daughter of the late J. Roy and Ellen (Morgan) Martin.
Miss Martin was retired from Potomac Edison, Cumberland. She was a member of St. Patrick's Catholic Church, Cumberland, and the church Sodality. She was a 1934 graduate of Girls Central High School.
Surviving are one aunt, Julia Pariser and husband, Rodney, Cumberland; two cousins, Thomas E. Martin and wife, Alice, Hagerstown, and Carole M. Abbott and husband, John, Akron, Ohio; and her best friend of almost 50 years, Patricia C. Helmstetter, LaVale, and her children and their families, J. Dennis Helmstetter, Pittsburgh, Pa., Eileen Luttrell, Smithsburg, Kevin J. Helmstetter, Cumberland, and her Goddaughter, Ellen M. Helmstetter, Frederick. They will forever mourn her loss.
Friends will be received at Scarpelli Funeral Home, P.A., 108 Virginia Ave., Friday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. The Rosary will be recited Friday at 8:45 p.m.
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Patrick's Catholic Church, Saturday at 11 a.m. with Father John J. Carney officiating.
Interment will be in SS. Peter & Paul Cemetery.
The family requests contributions be made to the Hospice Unit at Sacred Heart Hospital, 900 Seton Drive, Cumberland, MD 21502.
Pallbearers will be Joseph H. Helmstetter, Dennis Helmstetter, Kevin Helmstetter, Michael Luttrell and Bill Willis.
