(August) Wilhelm Brose was born in Ivensbusch, Kreis Filehne, Posen, Prussia; the ninth child of Christof Brose and Johanna Priebe. He was baptized in the Catholic church. Johanna died in 1854. Wilhelm's transcribed birth record from Poland gives his birth date as 30 July 1851, and this is consistent with his immigration record, at age 17, in 1868, with his father, stepmother, and assorted siblings. I can't account for the difference in birth dates at this time. Wilhelm married Isabella Dille about 1877, and in 1880, they plus their first child, Hattie (b 1879), were living in Mackford, Green Lake, WI. A son, George Franklin Brose, was born in 1882. By May of 1885, Isabella and the children were living in Udolpho, Mower, Minnesota. There is a marriage record for Wilhelm Brose and Anna Giese in Green Lake County on 30 Mar 1891. A 1900 US census record from Montello WI records a William Brose and wife Annie and her four children: Nellie (b 1885), Frederick (b 1887), Lena (b 1889), and Herman (b 1890). Another child, William Elmer, was born in 1902.
