Bonnie Lorraine Gors, 92, of Waverly, Iowa, died on Monday, January 2, 2012 at her home.
Lorraine was born on September 24, 1919, in Corbin, Kentucky, daughter of Garfield and Myrtle (Berry) Masters. In the early 1940's Lorraine moved with her family to Iowa, where she worked for two years at Hinson Manufacturing before attending Gates Business College in Waterloo. After her schooling she worked briefly at John Deere in Waterloo. On December 21, 1946, she was united in marriage to James Frank Gors at the Little Brown Church in Nashua. The couple settled on the Nichols farm east of Waverly, where Jim began farming. In 1990, the couple moved into Waverly. Jim died on April 29, 1998, and Lorraine continued to live in her home.
Lorraine was a member for more than 55 years of Trinity United Methodist Church and the Amvets Auxiliary of Waverly. She enjoyed reading, playing cards and spending time with her family and friends.
Lorraine is survived by a son, Bill Gors of Waverly; daughter, Patricia (Harold) Klossowsky of Waverly; son, Charles Gors of Waverly, son, Anthony (Laurie) Gors of Waterloo and a son, Jeffrey (Kathy) Gors of Waterloo; four grandchildren, Jed (Tally) Gors, Ethan, Dan and Rhiannon Gors; a sister, Peggy Williams of Lexington, Kentucky and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Jim, her daughter, Margaret, three brothers, one in infancy and John Wesley and David Masters; and three sisters, Juanita Brebner, Wilmoth Evans and Mary Ensslin .
Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, January 7, 2011 at 10:30 a.m. at Trinity United Methodist Church in Waverly. Burial will be held in Harlington Cemetery in Waverly. Visitation will be held on Friday from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. at Funeral Home in Waverly and also for an hour prior to services on Saturday at the church.
Memorials may be directed to the Shriner's Hospital for Children in Lexington, Kentucky, Cedar Valley Hospice, Waverly or to Trinity United Methodist Church.
