1844, Hugh moved his family to MS along with several related families. 7/30/1847, “my daughter Martha Bell wife of Hugh Bell” named in the will of her father William Watt. 10/1851, Hugh Bell named in the accounting of the estate of William Watt in SC. 1857, Hugh an Elder from North MS to the General Assembly of the Presbyterian Church in the United States. 1860, Hugh had land valued at $7000, and a personal estate of $31,000. 9/13/1864 Hugh died “very suddenly. He was taken about dark with an appoplectic fit.”
