Gun Accidentally Discharged While On Dove Hunt

Justice of the Peace J. H. Foster of the Bridgeport precinct, was accidentally killed at about one o'clock Thursday afternoon, when his gun was accidentally discharged as he got out of his car near Bridgeport. He and a companion from Bridgeport had left that town just after noon for a hunt. They reached the field where they planned to hunt, and as they got out of the car. Mr. Foster's gun went off, killing him almost instantly. Several Decatur citizens, notified of the tragedy, left immediately for Bridgeport.

The tragic death of Squire Jim Foster, which occurred near the Bridgeport dam, while he and Chas. Bingham were celebrating the last day of the dove hunting season, was a shock to his numerous friends and acquaintances thruout the county. While getting out of the car after arriving at a spot near the dam, the shotgun in the hands of Mr. Foster was accidentally discharged, killing him instantly. The funeral, held at Bridgeport Sunday afternoon, was attended by a large number of Mr. Foster's friends and relatives. Squire Foster was a pioneer citizen of Bridgeport, and had held several offices of public trust.
