Simpsonville
Oscar Frederick "Fred" Anders, 81, of 612 Neely Ferry Road, died March 14, 2005, at his home.
A native of Spartanburg County, son of the late O.P. and Ellen Allison Anders, he was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II, a retired employee of Greenville County Detention Center, and was a member of Simpsonville United Methodist Church. He was a member of the Empire Lodge #213 and the Hejaz Shrine Temple.
Surviving are his wife, Lois Burnette Anders of the home; four sons, Lonnie F. Anders of Fountain Inn, Jerry O. Anders and W. Frank Anders, both of Simpsonville, and Jeffrey H. Anders of Greer; a half brother, O.P. Anders Jr. of Sarasota, Fla.; seven grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
Mr. Anders was predeceased by a brother, Hiram C. Anders.
Graveside services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday at Wood Memorial Park, conducted by Rev. George Riser, Rev. Judson King, and Rev. Cooper Stonestreet.
Visitation will be held from 6:30 to 8 p.m. tonight at the Wood Mortuary.
The family is at the home.
Memorials may be made to Simpsonville United Methodist Church, 215 S.E. Main St., Simpsonville, SC 29681; or to the charity of one's choice.
