Richard Taliaferro, Sr

He and his younger brother, Charles, were under age in 1682 in Essex County, VA.


Richard married Sarah Wingfield about 1694 (See George H. S. King's "Marriages of Richmond County," p. 203)

He lived out of Virginia from 1688 to 1704, during which time he was a ship captain and owner and was Chief Judge and member of the Royal Council of the Bahaman Islands, 1699-1703. He has been called "The Pirate."

During the Bahamian governorship of his step-father, Colonel Cadwallader Jones, in 1704, Richard was in Newport, Rhode Island.

Richard died intestate in Richmond County in 1715. An Inventory of his estate was made in Richmond Co., VA.
