Neil was a veteran of the United States Army where he served as an 11C Indirect Fire Infantryman AKA Mortarman. He served both stateside as well as overseas in Germany. He never grew tired of talking about his military service. His hobbies included playing the guitar, singing old country and western music, and playing the harmonica. He loved family and friends and every opportunity to get together with them.
After his military service and a short residence in the Texas Panhandle, he made his home Konawa and had a resident since 1970.
Addington was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers. Neil married Edith Vivian McGill on June 11, 1971, in Gainesville, Texas. She survives him of the home. He is also survived by his daughter, Linda Burke, Woodward; one stepdaughter, Kathy Landrum, Tahlequah; one stepson, Dean Kelly, Konawa; three sisters, Marie Farris, Boise City, Stella Peoples, Konawa and Linda Arnold, South Carolina; and seven grandchildren.
