Otey (Oat) Riner, 88, was dead on arrival Wednesday at a local hospital after a short illness. Born at Wikel, Nov. 14, 1888, he was a son of the late Joseph C. and India Ballard Riner. Riner lived most of his life in Raleigh County and was a retired carpenter. Surviving are three sons, Archie of Beckley, Everett of Princeton and Earl of Beckley; a brother, Chris of Wikel; four sisters, Miss Anna Riner and Miss Louise Riner of Wikel, Mrs. Maude Crawford of Greenville and Mrs. Catherine Mann of Lindside; four grandchildren and one great-grandchild. Services will be Saturday at 1 p.m. in the Rose and Quesenbery Peace Chapel with Elder A.L. Neely in charge. Burial will be in Sunset Memorial Park.
