Barry Remley, 69, of West Chester, died Wednesday, Oct. 28, 2009, after a courageous battle with cancer.

He was the husband of Carole Sue Felice Remley, with whom he shared 45 years of marriage.

Born in Reading, he was the son of the late William and Florence George Remley.

Barry was an officer in the U.S. Navy (4DT/SEAL Team 22).

He was a professor of physical education at West Chester University for 30 years.

He is also survived by his two daughters, Christine DiGiovanni, wife of Frank of Wilmington, Del., and Jennifer Dowd, wife of John of Metuchen, N.J.; a brother, William Remley of Reading; grandchildren, Luke, Isabel and Grace DiGiovanni, and Gianna, Emma and Keira Dowd.

He also leaves behind many golfing, hunting and fishing buddies.

Relatives and friends are invited to his Funeral Mass at 10 a.m. on Monday, Nov. 2, at St. Agnes Church, 233 W. Gay St., West Chester.

Interment will be in St. Agnes Cemetery.

Visitation will be held from 6 to 9 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 1, at the DellaVecchia, Reilly, Smith & Boyd Funeral Home Inc., 410 N. Church St., West Chester, 610-696-1181, www.drsfh.com, and from 8:30 to 9:45 a.m., Monday, Nov. 2, at the above church.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to The Jeffrey S. Remley Memorial Scholarship Fund, c/o Berks County Community Foundation, 237 Court St., Reading, PA 19601.
