Julian Ellison enlisted into the US Army on April 29, 1918. He was sent overseas to France with Company B of the 364th Infantry Regiment, a part of the 91st Division, American Expeditionary Forces. His unit partook in the Ypres-Lys, Meuse-Argonne, and Lorraine Campaigns of World War I. He returned home on July 1, 1919 and was discharged on July 19, 1919.
