ARNOLD -- Vera Lee Arnold, 83, born June 5, 1926 in Capitan, NM, went home to be with our Lord and Savior on Monday, June 22, 2009 after a long illness. She was a resident of Canon City, CO since July of 1983, and former resident of Albuquerque. She is survived by her husband, Alvord J. Arnold; son, Ron E. Arnold and his wife, Debby, of Montrose, CO; daughter, Wanda C. McGuire and husband, Patrick, of Rio Rancho; seven grandchildren, Clinton Arnold and wife, Mary, Trisha Arnold, Pamela McGuire, Brian McGuire and wife, Shelly, Shannon McGuire and wife, Jo Ellen, and Chris and Justin Arnold; and 12 great-grandchildren. Vera is preceded in death by her parents, Lee Hartzel Hale and Mamie Margaret Russell; three sisters, Velma Coleman, Eva Mae Coleman, and Ruth Means; and her eldest son, Allen J. Arnold. She met her husband at a football game in Capitan, NM in September of 1941. After a short courtship, they were married January 17, 1942. They have remained together for 67 years. Some of her loves and hobbies were her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, camping, fishing, her flower gardens, and traveling. Her first love was our Lord Jesus Christ whom she knew as her personal savior. Services will be held Sunday, June 28, 2009, 2:00 p.m., at Tower Road Baptist Church, 601 86th St. SW, with Brother Gerald Wood officiating. Interment will follow at Sunset Memorial Park, 924 Menaul Blvd. NE. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Tower Road Baptist Church, 601 86th St. SW, 87121.
