ANOTHER REVOLUTIONARY SOLDIER GONE! Died, in South dennis, August 28th, Capt. Samuel CHASE, in the 84th year of his age. Capt. CHASE possessed an unusually strong constitution combined with an energetic and active mind. Many have been interested and instructed in listening to the stories and incidents he was ever fond of relating, concerning the great struggle for American Independence. He used frequently to revert to the winter in which he was released from service, far away from home, without money and without friends. He was obliged to walk many miles in the middle of winter, without shoes and thinly clad. At night, clearing a place in the snow, wrapping his blanket around him and placing his knapsack under his head, he took his repose. But he was not discouraged or daunted at hardships, he persevered, notwithstanding the many difficulties and trials which he encountered, he succeeded in accumulating a large property. He was two years chosen representative to General Court and was a Selectman for quite a number of years.
Father: Samuel Chase (unk - 1778)
Mother: Zilpha Burgess (1742-1798)
Spouse 1 (1784): Mary Nickerson (1765 - 1837)
13 children
Spouse 2 (1838): Molly Harding (1803 - 1887)
3 children
