HARRIET V DEBERRY

DEER PARK - Harriet V. DeBerry, 61, of 2534 Boiling Springs Road, Deer Park, died Tuesday, Jan. 13, 1998, at her home.

Born Aug. 28, 1936, in Garrett County, she was a daughter of Rachel (Schmidt) Beckman, of Deer Park, and the late Walter N. Beckman.

Mrs. DeBerry was a school bus contractor for the Garrett County Board of Education for 17 years. She was a member of the Deer Park Homemakers Club; the Deer Park Civic Group; the Garrett County Farm Bureau; and the Farmers Home Advisory Commission, and was a former 4H leader. She was a member of the St. John's Episcopal Church and was a former Sunday School teacher.

Surviving in addition to her mother are her husband, Everett B. "Doc" DeBerry; two daughters, Debra A. King, Severn, and Rebecca S. DeBerry, Deer Park; two sons, John E. DeBerry, Stafford, Va., and Thomas C. DeBerry, Deer Park; five brothers, William Beckman, Coraopolis, Pa., George Beckman, Oakland, Claude Beckman, Mountain Lake Park, Ralph Beckman, Cincinnati, Ohio, and Walter Beckman Jr., Oxnard, Calif.; four sisters, Elva Cole, Cincinnati, Helen Gay, Deer Park, Margaret Mowbray, Alexandria, Va., and Ruth St. Clair, Baltimore; eight grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Friends may call at the Durst Funeral Home, Oakland, on Thursday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.

Services will be conducted at the St. John's Episcopal Church on Friday at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Father Chip Lee, the Rev. Father John Grant, and the Rev. Father Thomas Staup officiating.

Interment will be in the Deer Park Cemetery.

The family requests that expressions of sympathy take the form of contributions to the Hospice of Garrett County.
