He was born Dec. 24, 1930, in Ottawa to Vincent and Lucy Frank Kaufman, who preceded him in death. On Sept. 12, 1953, he married Irene Grone, who survives in Ottawa.
Mr. Kaufman retired from Philips ECG after 38 years. He was a member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, Glandorf. He was an Army veteran of the Korean War. He was a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 9142, American Legion Post 63, Fraternal Order of Eagles Aerie 2234 and Knights of Columbus Council 1757, all in Ottawa. He had been a volunteer firefighter for the village of Glandorf and a member of the Leipsic Rod & Gun Club.
Survivors also include three sons, Kenneth (Peg) Kaufman, of Ottawa, Ronald (Sherry) Kaufman, of Idyllwild, Calif., and Dean (Joan) Kaufman, of Ottawa; a daughter, Dr. Lynn (Dr. Scott) Schmidt, of Maple Glen, Penn.; 11 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; five brothers, Richard Kaufman, of Leipsic, Ralph Kaufman, of Glandorf, Harold (Lenore) Kaufman and John Kaufman, both of Ottawa, and Thomas (Carol) Kaufman, of Glandorf; and four sisters, Irene Morman, of Ottawa, Rosemary (Tom) Wolke, of Glandorf, and Phyllis (Bob) Frey and Joyce Yant, both of Ottawa.
Mass of Christian Burial will begin at 1 p.m. Saturday at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, Glandorf. Father Tony Fortman will officiate. Burial will be in the church cemetery, with military rites by VFW Post 9142 and American Legion Post 63.
