Homer L. Staton, 72, of Taylors, S.C., husband of Betty JoAnn Staton, died Sunday, October 25, 2009.

Born in Greenville, S.C., he was the son of the late William Henry and Beulah Hunt Staton. In earlier years, Homer worked as a supervisor with Winn-Dixie. He is remembered for his love of playing golf. He was also a member of Central Baptist Church in Greenville, where he served as a Deacon.

Homer is survived by a son: Roger Staton and his wife, Mariett,a of Lexington, S.C.; two daughters: Wendy Staton of Watertown, N.Y. and Traci Joann Staton of Greenville, S.C.; a sister: Betty Spence of Tigerville, S.C.; two brothers: Henry "Hoss" Staton of Greenville, S.C. and Fred Staton of Anderson, S.C.; three grandchildren: Thomas Robert Slater, William Lee Slater and his wife Jessica, and Nicole Payton Dyer; one great-grandson: Brayden Lee Slater; a stepgrandchild: Jennifer Alison Bernabe; and a stepgreat-grandchild: Alison Leigh Bernabe.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, October 31, 2009, in the Chapel of Woodlawn Funeral Home at 2 p.m. with burial to follow in Woodlawn Memorial Park.

Visitation will be prior to the service from 12 to 1:30 p.m. at the funeral home.
