Hamlin - Malinda Anne Prewit , 91, passed away Friday, December 4, 2009, in Hamlin.
Funeral services will be 2:00 PM Wednesday, December 9, 2009 at the First Baptist Church in Hamlin with Rev. Donny Harbers officiating.
Burial will be in Highland Cemetery in Stamford, directed by Adams-Foster-Ray Funeral Home in Hamlin.
Born January 1, 1918, in Farmersville, Ann was the daughter of the late Dr. Jefferson Davis and Ada Ann (Stahl) Burt. She attended Texas Women's University and the University of Texas, where she met and married Lois Eugene Prewit on March 6, 1937,.
In 1954 they moved to Hamlin , and in 1962 Ann graduated from Hardin Simmons University with a Bachelors degree in elementary education. She retired after 20 years of teaching at Hamlin Elementary and was very proud of her accomplishments.
Ann was a member of the First Baptist Church in Hamlin, Tri Delta Sorority, and the Rolling Rotarians.
Ann had three loves in her life; church, her family, and school.
She took pride in raising her three boys and loved the children she taught in school.
Ann enjoyed traveling to Europe, Mexico, and Canada, going square dancing, and painting.
Ann is preceded in death by her husband (Lois Eugene Prewit and one half brother (Brian Burt).
Survivors include three sons- Dee Prewit and wife Gwen of Austin, Ken Prewit of Hamlin, and Charles Prewit and wife Monica of Avoca; two brothers-in-law H.L. Prewit of Stamford, and Jerry Prewit of Little Rock, AR; one sister-in-law Francis Grissom of Stamford; seven grandchildren; nineteen great-grandchildren; and one great-great- grandchild.
Memorials may be made to the First Baptist Church parsonage fund, Box 8, Hamlin , Texas, 79520 or one's favorite charity.
