He began teaching in 1978 in Gurdon Public Schools, was counselor at Glenwood High School. He served full time in the Arkansas National Guard for one year and then served in the Arkadelphia public system for twenty years. He was a member of Third Street Baptist Church.
He is survived by his wife, Carolyn Atkins Bell; one son, William Jeremy Bell; his mother, Flora Cline; one brother, Dr. Rex Harrison Bell.
Funeral services will be Saturday, October 31, 2009, at Third Street Baptist Church in Arkadelphia with Rev. Charlie Williams and Rev. Greg Latham officiating. Burial will be In Rest Haven Memorial Gardens.
Arrangements are by Ruggles-Wilcox Funeral Home in Arkadelphia.
