Jessie Jewell "Jewell" Vinyard was the fist-born child of Jesse Homer Vinyard and his wife Mabel Linnie Wimberley Vinyard. Jewell was born in 1919 in Hays County, Texas. Her paternal grandparents were Andrew Jackson Wimberley and Fanny B. Tanner Wimberley. Her paternal great-grandparents wee Pleasant Wimberley and Amanda Julian Jackson Wimberley.

Jessie grew up to marry Willard Webster Myers who was 12 years her senior. She and Willard had six children from 1938 to 1947--two sons and four daughters. However, both of their sons died as infants. And again tragedy entered Jessie's life when her husband died when Jessie was 48 years old.

Jessie died when she was 86 years old and was buried next to her husband and two sons in San Marcos Cemetery, San Marcos, Hays County, Texas. The graves of her parents and two brothers are just a few feet away.
