Rev. Jacob Franklin (Jake) Drake, 88, of Haskell, Okla., formerly of Huntsville died March 13 in a hospital in Muskogee, Okla. Born Feb. 15, 1883, in Drakes Creek, he served as Madison County tax collector from 1920 to 1924, was manager of the Huntsville Ford Motor Co. from 1925 until 1929, when he entered the canning business, operating plants in Northwest Arkansas and Eastern Oklahoma. He was also a Baptist minister. Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Lois Drake, of the home; two sons, Ezra Drake of Haskell and Howard Drake of Fullerton, Calif.; one daughter, Mrs. Chloe Bolinger of Ontario, Calif.; two step-sons, Earl Ethenledge of Hurley, N. Mex., and Glenn Ethenledge of Crestline, Calif.; three step-daughters, Mrs. Sue Oakley, Mrs. June Vaughn and Mrs. Joyce Fry, all of Dallas, Texas; one brother, George Drake, of Bellflower, Calif.; 20 grandchildren, 57 great-grandchildren, seven great-great-grandchildren, 10 step-grandchildren and 11 step-great-grandchildren. Funeral services were held Tuesday afternoon, March 16, at 2 o'clock in the Drakes Creek Baptist Church with Rev. Claude Counts, Rev. Troy Hayes and Rev. Charles Duncan officiating. Burial was in Drakes Creek Cemetery under the direction of Brashears Funeral Home. Pallbearers were Basil Ledbetter, Johnny Sisemore, Jim Duncan, Homer Ross, James Lewis and Lewis Brooks.
