He joined the Navy at the end of World War II and was in Boot Camp when the war ended. He studied at Art Center College of Design in Los Angeles and received an AA degree from Long Beach City College. Grant was a Commercial Artist working in the advertising business and in aerospace. He was Art Director for Northrop Aircraft when he retired in 1994. He was a career Commercial Artist but a Fine Artist at heart.
During his retirement years Grant turned his creative abilities to working with found objects in constructions and collage. He was proud to be a 25 year Boy Scout leader. He was a life-long lover of the outdoors and an avid hiker and outdoor photographer. He was a passionate lover of animals and an ardent environmentalist. Although he lived and worked his entire adult life in Los Angeles, he always considered Southern Utah to be his home.
He is survived by his wife Sandi, his children Renee and Kevin (Tina) Wright and his grandsons Brandon and Ryan Wright. He is also survived by his sister Carol Goddard (Don) and his niece and nephews Ann, Mike, and Steve Milne and his step-children Krista (Carl) Maithonis and David (Krisztina) Scheeff.
Funeral Services will be on Friday, October 16, 2009 at Southern Utah Mortuary located at 190 North 300 West, in Cedar City, Utah. Interment will be in the Cedar City Cemetery under the direction of Southern Utah Mortuary.
