SPRUCE PINE - Eugene (Gene) Biddix, 77, of Summit Avenue, died Tuesday, Aug. 3, 2004 at his home. He was the son of the late Peter Tildon and Nanny Geneva Hall Biddix. He was also preceded in death by four brothers, Lloyd, Brown, Ralph and Arnce Biddix; and four sisters, Nina McKinney, Ethel Edge, Amy Stewart, and Elzie Wilson.

He was a veteran of WWII and a member of the local VFW. He was a self-employed antique store owner and restorer and a member of Pine Branch Baptist Church.

Survivors include his wife, Mary Snyder Biddix of the home; two daughters, Lana Foxx of Burnsville, and Sherry Horton of Greenville; one sister, Maude McKinney of Spruce Pine; one granddaughter; one grandson; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services were held at 3 p.m. Friday at Pine Branch Baptist Church. Revs. Steve Williams and Jerry Shelton officiated. Military graveside rites followed in the church cemetery. The family received friends from 2 p.m. until the service hour at the church.
