Son of John G. & Mary Ann (E.? RUSSELL) GLADNEY. Married first on 28 APR 1859 in Carroll County, Georgia, to Angeline Jane KNIGHT, by whom he had at least two children, Berry Adolphus GLADNEY and Mary Elizabeth "Eliza" GLADNEY. Although no evidence of a divorce has been found, Calvin subsequently married ca. 1867 to Martha Catherine (BORDERS) ADERHOLD. No divorce has been detected for Martha and her first husband William W. ADERHOLD either, nor a marriage record for Calvin and Martha - however, the 1900 census reports that they had been married for 33 years, and their first of six children together was born about 1869.

Calvin entered and separated as a Private in Company F of the Nineteenth Regiment, Georgia Infantry, CSA.
