Tom leaves behind his wife of 40 years, Mary Ann "Toots" (Sansaver); daughter Tomina (Scott) Kinzie and grandchildren, Devon, Dakota, Dustin, Madison, Emily and Claire; son LeRoy Ira (Jody) Verwolf and grandchildren, Chase, Olivia and Isabel of Belgrade, MT; sisters Alice Christensen and Joanne Verwolf of Corvallis, MT, Lena (Don) Whitson of Libby; brother, John (Juanita) Wolf of the Gallatin Valley; numerous nephews and nieces; brothers-in-law Jim (Kathleen) Sansaver of Golden Valley, MN; Paul (Nancy) Sansaver and Butch (Lavonne) Sansaver of Wolf Point; sister-in-law Donna (Roger) Wimmer of Wolf Point; some very special friends Eddy Bauer, Lyle Hanson, Hardy and Hunter Braaten of Wolf Point and Raymond, Bea, Donna and Rusty Hutson of Sheridan, Wyoming.
Tom was preceded in death by his father Ira Verwolf, his mother Myrtle (Pavey) Verwolf, mother-in-law Mary (Azure) Sansaver, father-in-law Roy Sansaver and brother-in-law Russ Kimberlin.
Tom spent his formative years working with his Dad at the 320 Guest Ranch in Gallatin Canyon. He packed mules into Yellowstone Park giving guests a vacation to remember. After his children were born, Tom and his family moved to Wolf Point where he worked several years for Harry and Mary Ann Rodenberg at Honeyland, Inc., Kenco Refinery and doing janitorial service for the Wolf Point High School. After manual labor became too hard, Tom spent many hours on the road for Eddy Bauer Sales picking up and delivering trailers and equipment, a job he loved and shared with his grandsons.
Missing his mule string and their "mountain music", Tom and Toots began raising mules in 1981. The demand far surpassed the numbers and Tom's mules starred in scenes of the movie, "Dances with Wolves".
Following his wishes, Tom was cremated and his ashes were spread at the family ranch on August 23, 2008. Donations can be made in Tom's memory to the Go-Getters Youth Rodeo or the Cowboy Hall of Fame.
