Funeral services for Mattie Stoots Austin, 86, of Austinville Route 1, were conducted January 18, 2 p.m. in Reece Funeral Home Chapel. The Reverends Raymond Carpenter and Gary Vernon officiated. Burial was in Bethany Cemetery.
Mrs. Austin died January in in a Galax hospital. She was born in Austinville and was a daughter of the late James Monroe and Margaret Fowler Stoots. She was the widow of Joseph Graham (Austin).
Surviving are a daughter, Mrs. Douglas (Ailene) Frazier of
Austinville, four sons, Kyle Austin of Hillsville, Roy and Jimmy Austin of Austinville and Herman Austin of Austinville 16 grandchildren 19 great grandchildren five great-great grandchildren.
