The obituary for Travis Glenn Howard was published in the Houston Chronicle, Section B, Page 3, Star Edition, September 1, 2007. It reads as follows:

Travis Glenn Howard, 87, passed away peacefully at his home on September 1, 2007. Affectionately known as Pop, Travis was born to Gaither Artis and Nita Kennemer Howard, near the community of Slabtown, just outside of Paris, Texas on March 4, 1920.
He attended Paris Junior College before serving in the US Navy during World War II. Travis attained a BA degree from the University of Texas at Austin and passed the CPA exam in 1947. He remained a registered CPA until his death. Travis worked at the IRS before he joined the National Bank of Commerce (now part of Chase Bank) in 1960, and retired in 1964.
Travis was preceded in death by Alice Kost Howard, his wife of 49 years. He is survived by his son, Travis Glenn Howard, Jr. and spouse, Patricia of Mobile, Alabama, son, Gary Neal Howard of Houston and three very devoted grandsons, Michael Collin Howard, Kevin Curtis Howard and Cary Glenn Howard, all of Mobile, Alabama, who gave much of their time in caring for Pop during the last months of his life. Travis is also survived by three brothers, John Howard and Edgar Howard both of Houston and Kenneth Howard of Albuquerque, New Mexico.
The family will receive friends from 5:00 until 8:00 PM Monday, September 3, 2007. A brief memorial service commemorating Travis' life will be at Memorial Oaks Funeral Home at 10:00 AM September 4, 2007. Internment will follow at Memorial Oaks Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations be made in his memory to the American Heart Association.
