James Edward Allard, 84, of Marietta, passed away on Monday (Oct. 12, 2009) at Marietta Memorial Hospital.

He was born on March 6, 1925, in Knoxville, Iowa, to the late Oda Oral and Almira Amanda Phipps Allard. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II, a member of the Bible Missionary Church of Marietta, and he enjoyed working on diesel engines.

He is survived by his wife, Marie Tanner Allard; one sister, Elizabeth McDonald of Arizona; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Services will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday (Oct. 20, 2009) at Hanner Funeral Home in Atlanta, Texas, with the Rev. Al Sale and the Rev. Blaine Shaw officiating. Burial will follow in the Antioch Cemetery in Atlanta, Texas. Ingram Funeral Home in St. Marys, W.Va., is assisting the family. An online guestbook is available at www.ingramfh.com.
