Mr. DeVault graduated from Morgantown High School, Morgantown, W.Va., in 1945. He then joined the U.S. Army and served during World War II. Following his service, he worked for Union Carbide in maintenance until his retirement. While living in Marietta, he attended Putnam Congregational Church.
Mr. DeVault is survived by two sons, Kenneth E. "Ed" DeVault Jr., (Darlene), Fort Lauderdale, Fla., and Andy DeVault (Jamie), Richmond, Va.; and a daughter, Polly Maghielse (Carl), Waynesboro, Tenn. He is also survived by five grandchildren, Ryan DeVault (Rachel), Cleveland, Ohio, Wesley DeVault, San Diego, Calif., and Christopher, Kyle, and Shane (Emily) Maghielse, Waynesboro, Tenn.; and four great-grandchildren, Carter DeVault, and Alexis, Addison, and Hayes Maghielse. He is also survived by a sister, Carolyn Kerr (Rev. Jim) of West Virginia.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Betty Jo Boone DeVault, on March 19, 1994; and a brother, Delmer.
Services will be held on Thursday (Oct. 29, 2009) at 11 a.m. at Hadley Funeral Home, Reno Chapel, 1021 Pike St., Marietta, with the Rev. Craig Butler officiating, where the family will receive friends on Wednesday (Oct. 28, 2009) from 6 to 8 p.m. Burial will follow in Putnam Cemetery.
