David Monroe Hooker was born on October 15, 1953 in Belton, Texas. He was the son of Ivan and Eula Mae Drake Hooker. He married Lisa Linn Gumbert on August 17, 1979 and they spent 28 memorable years together. He was the devoted father of Eric Monroe Hooker and proud grandfather of Landon Hooker. He came to Kerr County, Texas at the age of 2 and spent most of his life there.

David fondley known as "Uncle David" to so many was the "sunshine in the storm". He had a twinkle in his voice and a calm in his eyes. You knew you'd had a "real" hug when he finally turned you loose! Somehow it always felt like Christmas when he was around even in the middle of July with no presents or tree!

David was an inspirational songwriter and singer. If you closed your eyes and listened; it was like being in the room with the Southern Gospel side of "Elvis". His voice could touch your soul like few can do.

David wasn't a rich man but a generous one; not a doctor or a lawyer but a wise man nevertheless; he wasn't famous except in the eyes of those who loved him. During his 54 years on this earth he was able to leave an imprint on the soul of every person he came close enough to breathe on. Once you met David Hooker you were not soon to forget him.

People say, "You don't know how many friends you have, how well you are liked and respected, or the impact you have made on others until you die". If this is true; the life of David Monroe Hooker was a life well lived.

RIP "Uncle David" - we miss you every day and look forward to the day we will see you again on the streets of gold and hear your voice booming through the heavenlies!
