Self-reported birthdate on his WW1 Draft card was NOV 10, 1890. This date is also on his Social Security records. (Tombstone has Nov. 11).

Son of Charlie Richardson Roper and Delia Caroline Roland Roper, he was born in Macon County, NC. He Married Annie Zadie "Zadie" Wilkes.

At age 26 he was married with 2 children and claimed a physical disability as an exemption from being drafted. His mailing address was Rt. 3, Franklin; he lived on Burningtown, NC and the description of him given was medium build, slim, light hair slightly balding and with blue eyes. This was 1917-1918 during WW1.

He was a member of Mount Sinai Assembly of God Church in Macon County, NC.

In 1947 he moved to Monticello, GA, where he worked as a music teacher. He died in Jasper County, GA after an 11 year period of declining health. His widow survived him. At the time of his death, he had 47 grandchildren, 40 great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild.
