John Benjamin Medcalf was born July 9, 1863, and departed this life July 26, 1937, at the home of his daughter Mrs. Anna Batson of Louisburg, MO. He was 74 years and 16 days of age.
He was married to Miss Manervia Reynolds September 16, 1887. To this union were born 14 children, three preceding him in death. The eleven living are: Anna Batson, Louisburg; Gertie Gamel, Exeter, California; Lonnie Medcalf, Buffalo; Raymond Medcalf, Louisburg; Alta Sampler, Santa Paula, California; Zellva Newton, Billings, MO.; Millie Dela, Springfield; Floyd Medcalf, Lemon Cove, California; Olga Bramwell, Wichita, Kansas;, Eva Lamb, of Eldorado, Kansas; and Everett Medcalf, Lemon Cove, California. Also 22 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren survive.
He professed a hope in Christ almost four years ago at a Pentecostal meeting and lived a faithful Christian life until death. He told his companion he was ready to go, that there was nothing between him and his savior, and has gone to be with his blessed Savior and his loved ones around God's throne in Glory.
He leaves to mourn his departure his companion, 11 children, 22 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren, and many friends.
All was done that loving hands could do but to no avail. It is hart to part with our loved ones but we must remember that God knows best. Our loss is Heaven's gain.
