MANCHESTER- Hildrith Marion (Hanson) Blanche, 85, of Manchester,died Tuesday,June 18, 1996 at the Kennebec Long Term Care,Graybirch Drive.
She was born in Ripley, March 6, 1911, the daughter of Clarence Edward and Maud (Foss) Hanson. She was a graduate of Harmony High School,class of 1931 and attended Farmington Normal School and Machias Normal School. She later received her bachelor of science degree in education from the Farmington State Teachers' College in 1962.
She had worked for many years teaching school.
She was a member of the Augusta Nature Club and the Maine State Retired Teachers Association.
She was an avid gardener and rockhound as well as a collector of dolls.
Survivors include two sons,Fred E. Blanche of Winthrop and Carlton W. Blanche of Manchester; four daughters,Anne Whitman of Manchester, Francis Duncan of Decatur,Ill.,Geraldene Douglas of Dallas,Texas,and Charlene Skene of Tulsa, Okla;one sister,Geraldine Landry of Bonita Sprins,Fla; 22 grandchildren; 3 greatgrandchildren.
She was predeceased by her husband, George Everett Blanche, in 1977; one son, Robert E. Blanche in 1940; two brothers, Levi Hanson and Joseph Hanson; and one sister, Pauline Thorndike.
Visiting hours will be from 6-8 p.m. today, Saturday, June 22, at the Knowlnton & Hewins Funeral Home,1 Church St.,Augusta.
A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, June 23, at the North Manchester Meeting House.
