James Devlin, a resident of Forest Grove for the last 26 years, died at his home North 7th Street, Sunday night at 7:30pm. Funeral services were held Tuesday at the Forest Grove Undertaking chapel at 2pm the Rev. Claude P Sabin officiating. Interment was made in the Forest View cemetery.
Born at Forrester's Falls, Ont., March 8, 1860. Mr. Devlin came to the United States as a ;young man of 20. He married November 9, 1887 at St. Thomas, ND and came to Oregon in April 1907 settling in Forest Grove. He was an active member of IooF Forest lodge No. 48 and IOOF encampment, Washington lodge No. 24. He was a Modern Woodman of America and a very active member of the Church of Christ.
Mr. Devlin is survived by his widow and seven of his nine children, who are: Walter A. of Rockaway, J. Roy and William L. of Forest Grove, Lawrence E and G Harold of Portland, Mrs W. W. Graham of Corvallis and Mrs. G. E. Richards of Albany. He was the brother of Mrs. Harriet Cochran, Crystal, ND; Mrs. Ed Long, Drayton, ND; Mrs. Ila McDonald, Beaudette, Minn.; Mrs. George Fallis, Edmonton, Alberta, Can.; and Dr. William Devlin of Chicago. There are four grand children living.
