He was born in Patrick County, on December 14, 1924, to Conner and Lula Nunn Bowman. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a daughter, Rita Joy Bowman; two brothers, Jim Bowman and Johnny Bowman; and three sisters, Ava Slate, Ivory Hensley and Curly Bowman.
Surviving are his wife of 58 years, Eunice Rakes Bowman of the home; five sons, Arnold Dale Bowman of Columbus, Ga., Vesta Wayne Bowman of Bluefield, W.VA., Steve Allen Bowman of Penhook, Randy Leo Bowman of Meadows of Dan and Gloria Bowman Pickett of Pulaski; 14 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and a sister, Etta Bowman of Meadows of Dan.
The funeral will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday at Moody Funeral Home chapel in Stuart. Burial will be in the Barnard-Terry family cemetery in Meadows of Dan.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home for one hour before the service.
