Walter E. Townsend 68 of Logan passed away Monday, July 14, 2008 at his residence. Born April 14, 1940 at Ethel, he was the son of the late Jeff and Mary Copley Townsend. He was also preceded in death by two brothers, Thomas and Bobby Townsend, sisters, Geneva Altizer and Pauline Townsend, mother and father-in-laws Hubert and Verba Muncy.

Mr. Townsend was a veteran of the US Army and was a disabled coal miner.

Those left to cherish his memory include his wife, Judy Townsend, sons, Brandon of Logan, Paul (Andrea) of Valley View, David of Columbus, Ohio, and step-son, Rick Clay (Sandy) of Hopkinsville, KY,and one brother Jack Townsend of Seattle, WA., also surviving him include seven grandchildren, Corey, Gabrielle, Ryan, Bethany, Isabella Townsend, Eric Browning and Krystal Clay.

Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Thursday at Honaker Funeral Home in Logan with the Rev. Billy Marcum officiating. Burial will follow in Highland Memory Gardens at Godby. Friends may call 6 to 9 p.m. today at Honaker Funeral Home in Logan.
