Son of Edwin & Mary (Wright) Rich. His name appears on both his mother's stone and the stone of his wife, son and daughter-in-law.
From the Middlebury Register, July 27, 1869:
It gives us pain to announce the death of Charles H. Rich who died on Tuesday last, of consumption, at the age of 25 years. Mr. Rich was a quiet, unobtrusive young man, of good habits, a member of the church, and generally respected. He served in the 3d Regiment Vt. Vols. during the late war, where he aggravated, if not contracted the disease which caused his death.

The obituary has an error. He was actually a private in Company B. of the 5th Vermont Infantry.
