Alberta F. Garner Seay has a widow's CSA pension app on line in the GA archives virtual vault. She shows proof of marriage to John C. Seay in Randolph Co, GA on 19 Dec. 1877. She says he enlisted in 1861 at Spring Place, GA with the Spring Place Georgia Vols, which later became Company B of the 3 rd GA Battalion. He was later Captain of Co. A of the 37th GA regiment and served until the unit surrendered in Greensboro, N. C. However his witness, J. H. Baynes, of Murray county, said that Capt. John C. Seay was sick in the Florence Alabama hospital at the time of the surrender. Mrs. Seay says he husband died in Dawson, GA on Nov. 17, 1894.
