Mr Pruett hired the Gryder family to gather his crop. That fall Mrs. Gryder died in childbirth leaving an infant girl, a two year old boy, Dan, and a 13 year old girl named Sally (Sarah). Mrs. Gryder was buried at Gunsight and Mr. Gryder went to Ranger.
Mr. Pruett went to Ranger and persuaded this young girl, Sallie (Sarah) to marry him. They were married in October 1880 at Breckenridge and they brought her little brother, Dan, home with them. He grew up to manhood in the Wayland community."

Second eldest of eleven children and eldest of three daughters born to Thompson J Rowell 1926-1880 and Elizabeth Jane Yancy 1835-1900, both of Georgia. Her ancestry goes back to the 1700's in New Hampshire for the Rowells, the Yancy line to North Carolina.
She became the wife of Samuel Cornelius Gryder 1847-1922 whose lines go back to the 1600's to Switzerland. They married 29 Mar 1866 in Claiborne, Louisiana, and had the following children:
* Sarah Cornelia "Sallie" Gryder, Mrs John Knight Pruett 1867–1914
* Elizabeth "Bettie" Gryder Tolbert 1870–1977
* Robert Franklin Gryder 1873–1935
* Mary Alice "Beulah" Gryder, Mrs William Monroe Garrett 1874–1943
* William Daniel Gryder 1876–1971
* Baby Girl Gryder 1879–1879
After Lydia died in childbirth in 1879, Samuel would remarry to Martha Patience Pearce and have twelve more children.
