Betty J. Sawmiller, 86, died at 8:09 p.m. Jan. 11, 2009, at St. Rita's Medical Center.

She was born March 9, 1922, in Allen County to William S. and Mary L. Strawser Boughan, who preceded her in death. On Dec. 31, 1945, she married Gale E. Sawmiller, who survives in Lima.

Mrs. Sawmiller was a homemaker. She had been a beauty operator and worked at Westinghouse Electric Corp. during the war. She was a member of First Church of the Nazarene. She was a graduate of Shawnee High School.

Survivors also include four children, Linda (Robert) Metz, of Woodstock, Ga., Mike (Marla) Sawmiller, of Spencerville, Carol (Steve) Smith, of Elida, and Ted (Kim) Sawmiller, of Lima; and 14 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by a grandchild; and seven siblings, Donald, Darrell, Dale, Doan, Dwight and Charles Boughan and Shirley Galbraith.

Services will begin at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Bayliff & Son Funeral Home, Cridersville. Pastor John Perkins will officiate. Burial will be in Greenlawn Cemetery, Elida.

Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.

Memorial contributions may be made to the charity of the donor's choice.
