In 1804, John Kempton requested to be dismissed from the 1st Church of Plymouth and transferred to the 3d Church. He had belonged to the 1st church for over 60 years. This was allowed by the committee. The prime reason for his request was that 'this request appearing to have been the result of misrepresentation and false information on a mind greatly impaired and debilitated by the infirmities of old age'. John was 88 years of age at that time."
