GARY LEE DUGGER
Kansas City, Missouri

Gary Lee Dugger, 64, formerly of Jerseyville, died Saturday, November 4, 2006, after a farming accident.
He was born October 4, 1942, in Jerseyville and lived in Alton after marrying Anna N. Clevenger.
He worked for Olin in East Alton until he moved his family to the Kansas City area in 1970 to begin work at TWA as a machinist, retiring in 1998. on January 21, 1981, he joined the Platte County Sheriff's TACT Unit. He was a member of the Platte County Sheriff's Underwater Recovery and SWAT Team, retiring in December 31, 1996. He also was chief of police in Dearborn, Missouri, for several years in addition to serving in other law enforcement positions. He was a strong supporter of the Democratic Party.
An avid outdoorsman, he loved the country and realized his dream of moving to a farm after his retirement and raising horses, dogs, chickens, and any other animal that would stay. One of his passions was hunting, especially traveling to Colorado for the early season. He also loved motorcycle trips across the country, viewing nature's beauty along the way. He earned his pilot's license and flew his Cessna single-engine plane for many years.
he was a very proud grandfather as well as a loving and caring son, brother, father, and friend. There were no strangers, as he was kind and helpful to anyone who needed assistance.
He is survived by twin daughters and their husbands, Kathleen and Mark Smerchek and Kristine and Billy Courtney of Parkville, Missouri; four grandchildren, Brandon and Anna Courtney and Calen and Christian Smerchek; his mother, Lois Dugger of Jerseyville; two sisters, Phyllis Flanagan of Alton and Sandy Clothier and her husband, Jim, of Carrollton; his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Joe and Wilma Glorioso of Parkville; and two brothers-in-law and their wives, Bruce and Judy Clevenger of Braymer, Missouri and Ray and MaryAnn Clevenger of Gallatin, Missouri.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 28 years, Anna Dugger; his father, Loren Dugger; a brother-in-law, Raymond Flanagan; and a nephew, Keith Flanagan.
Our hearts are saddened by his sudden death, but we will always love him and cherish the memories.
