Mr. McLaughlin was former co-owner-operator of Keith and McLaughlin Jewelry Store and later Mc Laughlin-Johnson Jewelry Store. Graveside rites will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday at the Newton Union Cemetery.
The Rev. David Raymond, pastor of the Congregational United Church of Christ, will conduct services. Memorials to Grinnell Hospice will be accepted. Surviving is his wife, Maxine.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a son, John H.
Mr. McLaughlin was a member of the Congregational United Church of Christ, Newton Masonic Lodge 50 AF and AM, Des Moines Za-Ga-Zig Shrine Temple and Newton Elks Lodge 1270.
The son of J. W. and Allie Kate McCauley McLaughlin, he was born Aug. 4, 1901 in Newton and was graduated from Newton Community High School and Bradley University in Peoria, Ill.
