Patrolman Robert C. Barry, 47, of 1310 Stark St.a veteran of 23 years in the Utica Police Bureau, died last night in St. Luke's-Memorial Hospital Center. He was born in Utica, son of Edward and Vera Dignan Barry. He graduated from St., Agnes School, attended Assumption Academy, and graduated from Utica Free Academy. He married Helen Schmidt in 1936. Mrs Barry died in 1944.
Mr. Barry was appointed to the police force on Feb. 28, 1939. He served in various capacities in the department. For the past few months he had been a radio dispatcher. He was a member of St. John's Church, the Utica Police Holy Name Society, and the John E. Creedon Police Benevolent Association. He leaves two daughters, Mrs. Barbara Dye, Utica, and Mrs. Herman (Patricia) Coleman, Plant City, Fla.; a son, Robert J. Barry, Glendale, Calif., and a brother, James F. Barry, Fairlawn, N. J.
The funeral will be at 830 Monday from the Quinn, Ryan and Nunn Funeral Home and at 9 from St. John's Church with a solemn requiem Mass offered. Burial will be in Mt. Olivet Cemetery. Calling hours are from 7 to 9 tonight and from, 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 tomorrow. The Ufica Police Holy Name Society will meet at 7:30 p. m. tomorrow to recite the Rosary.
