Canton, N.C. - Ruth Ellen Clontz Moody, 68, died Saturday, October 24, 2009 at the Brian Center of Waynesville.
A native of Haywood County, she was a daughter of the late Jodie Burton and Lillie Bugg Clontz.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas Moody, who died in 2002; a brother, Carl Clontz, and a sister, Louise Johnson.
Ruth was a Certified Nursing Assistant and a member of Ridgeway Baptist Church.
She is survived by three daughters, Vickey Browning and her boyfriend, Roger Farley, of Harlan, Ky, Freda Swanger and her husband, Buz, and Marlene Capps and her husband, Dean, all of Canton; one sister, Vera Vance and her husband, David, of Canton; four brothers, David Clontz and his wife, Debbie, of Deltona, Fl, Johnny Clontz and his wife, Kathy, of Canton, Daniel Clontz and his wife, Joyce, of Hickory, and J.C. Clontz and his wife, Sandra, of Canton; four grandchildren, Chris Capps, Carla Gibson, Shaun Browning, and Savannah Browning; and one great-grandchild, Kenzie Gibson.
A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday in the Canton Chapel of Wells Funeral Home with the Rev. J.C. Grose, Jr. and the Rev. Dean Clontz officiating.
Burial will follow at Morning Star Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 12:30 until 2 p.m. prior to the service.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Haywood Regional Medical Center Hospice, 560 Leroy George Drive, Clyde, NC 28721.
