Bert Dallas Ames, age 55, of Ioka, died March 6, 2000 at the Uintah Basin Medical Center is Roosevelt.
He was born Sept. 17, 1944 in Roosevelt to James Orvil and Luella Jane Cook Ames. He married Charlotte Timothy Aug. 19, 1966 in Duchesne. They were sealed in the Salt Lake Temple Dec. 11, 1970. Bert enjoyed life and was a hard worker. He had a passion for music and sang and played his guitar wherever and whenever asked. He had a great sense of humor and enjoyed laughing and joking with others. He loved construction work and found it very fulfilling. Bert liked to help others and went out of his way to do so. Whenever a widow needed coal, Bert taught his sons to deliver a "widow's ton" (always a ton plus). He loved the lord and relied on Him for all things.
He is survived by his wife, Charlotte, Ioka; children, Tricia and Mark DeAngelo, Winnemucca, Nevada; Bert Daniel and Kristine Ames, Thornton, Colorado; David and Dawnett Ames, Ioka; Peggy Sue and Richard Robinson, Salt Lake City; Adam and Kim Ames, Andrew "Bear" Ames, and Rebecca Jane Ames, all of Roosevelt; seven grandchildren; brothers, Vern and Phyllis Ames, Ioka; and Don and Rachel Ames, Ioka; sisters, Rita Workman, Roosevelt; Ella and Dale Workman, Duchesne, Kay Nybert, Salt Lake City; Eva and Carl Ivie, Duchesne; sister-in-law, Stella Harmston and Stella Ames. Burt was preceded in death by brothers Wayne, Ed, and George, and a brother-in-law, Bob Myberg.
Burial in the Ioka Cemetery.
