Rites were to be conducted by Dr. John E. Barnes Jr., pastor of Main Street Baptist Church, with burial in Highland Cemetery.
A resident of Hattiesburg for 23 years, Mr. Gordy formerly lived in Newton and Perry counties. He was engaged in the lumber business for many years, operating his own mills in several counties.
Survivors are his wife, three daughters, Mrs. John F. Heath of Columbus, Miss., Mrs. James A. Rogers of Hattiesburg and Mrs. C. King of Petal; four sons, C. L. Jr. of Jackson, B. Q. of Pensacola, Fla., Joe C. of Fresno, Calif., and Jack of Laurel; 17 grandchildren and six brothers.
