Harold L. Crow, 66, of 704 S. 14th Ave. W., a resident of Newton since 1950, died Saturday afternoon, Nov. 12, at Skiff Medical Center of Cancer.

Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday at the First United Methodist Church.

The Rev. Jerry Brown and the Rev. Warren McFate, pastors of the church, will conduct services.

Burial will be in Newton Union Cemetery where a military flag presentation will be held.

Friends may call at Reese funeral Home after noon Tuesday and visitation with the family will be held from 7 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.

Memorials to a fund in his name, which will be distributed to Simpson College and the First United Methodist Church, will be accepted.

Survivors are his wife, Florence; two sons, David of Richmond, Texas, and Thomas of Newton; a daughter and son-in-law, Elizabeth and Scott Thompson of Mesa, Ariz.; three sisters, Evelyn (Mrs. Francis) Schwartz of Shannon City, Velma Crow of Johnston and Mary (Mrs. Paul) Schafroth of Corning; and two brothers, Loren W. of Denver, Colo., and Albert F. of Corning.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Ralph. Mr. Crow had been an industrial engineer at the Maytag Co. until his retirement Dec. 31, 1990.

He was a member of the First United Methodist Church, where he had taught Sunday School, sung in the chancel choir and served on the administrative board, the Maytag Management Club, Maytag retirees Club and was a member and former president of the Central Iowa Chapter of the Institute of Industrial Engineers.

He was a member and past president of the Newton Noon Kiwanis Club, past president of the Newton Jaycees and chairman of the board at the time the state Jaycee headquarters was built in Newton.

The son of William K. and Dora Saunders Crow, he was born May 24, 1928 in Adams County and was graduated from Simpson College in Indianola where he served on the Simpson College Alumni Council Board and was a member of Alpha Tau Omega Fraternity.

He was married to Florence Sanderson July 2, 1952 in Osceola. Mr. Crow moved to Newton from Lennox. ~ The Newton (IA) Daily News, November 1994.
